Easter at Newhills 2010
This was an Easter Celebration with a difference! With the visit from the African and Caribbean Fellowship for their Annual Retreat using our church over the Easter weekend, they joined us on Sunday to walk up Brimmond Hill and welcome the dawn of Easter Day. Back at the Church, we enjoyed Breakfast, and then we moved into the Sanctuary to set the scene for worship with half an hour of Easter Praise accompanied by the African Praise Band along with our own Andrew Plenderleith and several Wallace Family members! Edmond Gatima, who had previously served as a student attached to Newhills Church, spoke to the children with humour, passion and conviction, whilst Rev Joseph Mensah, who had been the main speaker at the Retreat, brought the Easter message of the Facts of the Resurrection and their Implications for all believers. With songs and worship a powerful and moving service was enjoyed by a packed church.
There was an invitation to join our guests at their lunch, and a good number of Newhills folk took the opportunity to continue in fellowship. Not only were we well fed, but we were warmly welco
med and made to feel part of their gathering. It was a fitting end to a week of praise and reflection, Passover and Communion, prayer and passion as we walked through Holy Week with our Lord and Saviour.
Thanks to all who helped to make this an Easter to remember.

A truly memorable Easter day!
