Over 50s – Spring
On 18th November we had a very special birthday party for a very special lady – Ada Philip – who was 90 on 21st November. Ada had been Treasurer of the Over 50’s Fellowship since its inception and worked very hard to make the Fellowship such a success. It was a really super afternoon, with a cake, balloons and lots of fun.
Age Concern had asked us to raise funds for their organisation by holding a “Wear a Hat Day” – so, on 2nd December, all our members—even the men—turned up trumps in some unusual headgear. Prizes were awarded for the most beautiful, most unusual and best handmade hat. There was a great deal of hilarity as you can imagine as you can see from the photos. We did in fact raise £60 so it was very worthwhile.
On 9th December we had our Christmas Party at The Cloverleaf Hotel and were entertained by The Three Gypes, giving us their version of ‘The Three Wise? Men’ on their camels, on their way to Bethlehem – another happy afternoon.
Because of the very bad weather we had to cancel our Burns Lunch in January but, totally undeterred and weather permitting, we will be very different from everyone else and hold it on 17th March, which just happens to be St Patrick’s Day!
Our Coffee Morning and Cake & Candy Stall will be held on Saturday 10th April from 10am-12.30pm. Tickets will cost £1.50 for adults and 50p for children. Donations for the Cake & Candy Stall will be very much appreciated. We really do get a lot of support from the congregation at our Coffee Morning and we look forward to seeing many of you there.
Because we have reached our full capacity on Wednesdays we cannot accept any more members on that particular day, but we can still cope with more people on a Monday when we meet from 1.30-3.30pm. Transport can be provided by contacting,
Helen Mitchell—telephone No. 01467 632464.
Come and join the fun and fellowship
