Painless Fund Raising for a Good Cause

Once again the ladies of Heart to Heart and their friends have raised a remarkably large sum of money for Tearfund by not sending Christmas cards to church friends whom they see every week, but donating the equivalent sum to the Tearfund Living Gift scheme.

We raised £171:00 to be “part of a miracle”!

After consultation, not to say much pencil chewing, we decided to spend the money in three different countries and focus on children, food and victims of war related trauma, including rape.

In India we supported a children’s club which provides safety and security in a slum area, lunch for forty children and school supplies for 10 pupils.

In Burkina Faso we bought a sheep which allows a family to develop a small livestock programme and two boxes of grain which can be stored for when the harvest runs out.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo we provided restorative medical treatment to people who have experienced war-related trauma.

It was not easy to decide which of the many heart tugging appeals to answer but we hope these reflect the particular interests and concerns of the Heart to Heart ladies.

Thank you to all the kind and generous people who answered this call. We hope you didn’t really miss our cards last year and enjoyed the personal greetings and “bozzies” instead.

The “One for All” cards made an attractive display at the church front door and we would hope to repeat the process next year. So look out for the information near to Christmas ’10 and come and join us!
