The Children’s and Youth Team – Spring

Published, Mar 27th, 2010 | 0

By the time you read this we will have had another (hopefully!) successful Easter Event, this time involving children from the community taking part in craft, sport, music and drama activities on 27th March as part of the Newhills Easter celebrations. When the fun was over there was, of course, food which was shared by children and parents alike.

This is a key part of the ministry of the children’s team – to try and involve the whole family in activities at Newhills. We are part of the community and it is important that families are given the opportunity to get to know us and that we welcome them to Newhills and share with them the sort of activities that are part of our lives. We are already planning what our next activity will be.

Last year, to celebrate the end of term, we organised a family picnic to Crathes Castle and Gardens. This was a great opportunity for everybody connected with Newhills to get together for a day out. Some enjoyed sedate activities such as viewing the castle or gardens, whilst others took part in football, rounders or the activity park.

The National Trust had a ‘Birds of Prey’ show which many enjoyed and, as is always the case with any Newhills event, there was food! We were blessed with fabulous sunshine (was it ever in doubt) and over 60 people, young and not so young, enjoyed the day.

The plan is to do something similar this year. I cannot make any promises on the weather, but keep the date of Sunday 20th June free and more details will follow.

Newhills Sunday Club is growing but is always happy to welcome new children. If you know of anybody who would like to come, or even talk to someone about what sort of things we get up to on a Sunday morning, then please ask them to get in touch with Vernon or myself.
